Chlorine-Free Texas Public Pools

We want to remove existing legal barriers to the use of copper ionization systems in public pools in Texas and those City of Austin pools that are currently chlorinated.

Many states and municipalities have laws requiring use of chlorine or bromine in public pools.  None of these laws specifically remove copper ionization systems, they do not address them at all.

Public swimming pools and spas affected by these laws are:

  1. City/County/State pools
  2. Hotel pools and spas
  3. Apartment complex pools and spas
  4. HOA and condominium pools and spas
  5. Gyms/health clubs pools and spas
  6. YMCA pools and spas

We feel the time is right to stop chlorinating our public pools. The runoff into the aquafer and rivers is unhealthy for plants and animals, polutes the water and harms the fish. Moreover, chlorine, bromine and salt water pools produce harmful byproducts. All three produce chlorine.

Chlorine dangers:

  1. Irritates eyes/ears/nose/throat.
  2. Bleaches hair.
  3. Penetrates skin, aggrivating allergies.
  4. Causes asthma.
  5. Chlorine allergies.
  6. Harmful runoff into aquafer or rivers.
  7. Harmful in drinking water.
